Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program administered by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges. The training gives you the skills to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use challenge or experiencing a crisis.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand
and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults.
You will build the skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to those who
are struggling. You will also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support.

After the course, you will be able to:

- Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges

- Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges

- Understand how to interact with a person in crisis

- Know how to connect a person with help

- Use self-care tools and techniques

While the energy industry has historically concentrated its efforts on physical health and safety protocols, there has been a growing recognition of the pivotal role mental health and wellness play in overall worker wellbeing and operational success. Although mental health and wellness are crucial issues in their own right, they are also inextricably linked to and greatly influence the effective implementation of physical health and safety practices. By prioritizing mental health alongside physical safety measures, companies can foster a more holistic and sustainable approach to creating a productive and resilient workforce.

Lunch will be included.
